With a tip of my knitted cap to Eden Marriott Kennedy, I want to start a thing. I've always wanted to write a novel. Of course I have, haven't you? But, who has the self-discipline, the time, the One Good Idea? Then I heard about NaNoWriMo, and I thought, hmmmmm, I should do that. I would do that if I wasn't so busy with all the buying and wrapping of gifts and baking cookies and brownies for classes of twenty or thirty kids and feeling bad that once again I wasn't sending out cards.
So, then I decided that March is good for me. Is it good for you? Wanna do a little splinter group novel writing thing? I am incapable of the fancy stuff -- I can't give you a little button that shows how close you are to your goal. In fact, I say let's not get caught up in word count at all; let's just make it a story that is definitely not going to be mistaken for a short story.
If you want to participate, leave a comment and I will add you to the list in the side bar: that much I can do. I've already had a couple of people say they are interested, but I won't list anyone until I get a firm "yes." I know it's hard to write when there is all this pressure. Just remember, March has a whole extra day compared to November, and all you have to really get ready for are your elaborate April Fool's Day pranks.
